Dunedin, FL — An elderly couple was rescued from a sinking car on Sunday at the Dunedin Marina by three good samaritans.

It was just before noon on Sunday when 89-year-old Joseph Schlesselman and 86-year-old Ruth Schlesselman arrived at the Dunedein Marina to watch the boats. Joseph says his foot slipped from the brake to the gas pedal, causing his vehicle to accelerate over parking barriers and over the seawall into a boat slip.

Three good samaritans–Courtney Douthit, 32, Joseph Sentelik, 48 and Eric Corum, 42–jumped into the water and broke the victims’ rear window using a fire extingusher. They then pulled the couple to safety, while the vehicle sank.

The Schlesselmans were taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries. source.
